New route to Machu Picchu

Before the new restrictions and limits imposed to the Way Inca during the last years, we have looked for new long walks that lead to Machu Picchu.

In November of the 2004, Iván (director of Indiana Expedition) next to Hugo (it guides), Pedro (cook) and Richard (porteador) proved a new route that Inca through made snow-white mountain landscapes tropical and forests leads to old ciudadela. This one is its story.

Perpetually shrouded in mist and surrounded by emerald peaks, Machu Picchu is felt long before it's seen. This emotional tug originates not in Peru but at home, in a bed, where eyes can be squeezed tightly and where one's head sinks softly into a pillow.

Diana Korte (Special to the Denver Post).- Machu Picchu is the spectacular Inca archeological ruins located 8,000 feet high in the Andes on a narrow ridge near the Equator. This other-worldly three square miles is surrounded by towering peaks in Peru at the edge of the Amazon rain forest. It's the most visited destination in South America, with about 1,000 travelers each day, many from North America and Europe.

A DRIFFIELD man is heading to Peru next month to see some of the stunning sights as well as visiting schools and farming communities.
Ross Weekes is making the trip as part of a Christian Aid visit to the region.

Completely funded by his own money, he will be spending 14 days exploring some of the lesser known parts of the country as well as the more famous ones like Machu Picchu.

Cell phones that annoy people on trains and in restaurants have been banned by a British tour operator on exotic trips worldwide.
